New Article Release
October 4th 2006 03:06
Normally I don't do any posting Tuesday or Wednesday (my blog off days if you will), but a new test and resulting article is now available from Amsoil that is amongst the most comprehensive articles I've read. It deals with 7 different API tests which individually are quite remarkable but when you throw them all together with the supposed great competition Amsoil took on head to head and see the results, it's a bit staggering!
Along these lines, let's talk briefly today about another very important gas saving tip. Winterizing or summerizing (if that's a word) your ride. Winter and summer place very different demands on your vehicle. From an oil stand point, most people worry more about getting their oil changed during the heavier driving months (summer) than they do in the winter. Both hot and cold bring particular risks and hazards to your engine, but perhaps one of the most overlooked and biggest issues for most of our engines is cold crank starting. Cold is almost as deadly, and in some cases much moreso than hot summer driving. Bottom line is what you're using. If you're like most and still running on a crappy brand of petrolium oil (and you can place any company name here...cuz it just doesn't matter), you'd better not push your changes much beyond 4000 to 5000 miles. Petrolium oil simply can't do longer drain intervals. While your winterizing, make sure and check your fluids and replace your air filter (again every year if you're using conventional air filters) to give your ride a smooth transition into the new season. Seems silly that so many spend so much time, energy and MONEY putting inferior products in your vehicle, but since so many do, I owe it to you to keep those changes on time with this gentle reminder.
As always..............Godspeed and Good Luck!
