New Blog....Introducing Fuelsavingadvice.com
September 8th 2006 16:44
Blogging, like anything in life, tends to have it's moments of definition that most of us don't quite get until long after the fact. We remember our first day of school. We recall our first kiss. We remember our first party and it's aftermath. We look back on these moments sometimes with fondness, other times with guilt. However, what all these moments have in common is that awkward start. Just getting going is sometimes the biggest, hardest step we take.
I manage a veritable plethora of blogs and everytime I head to the runway to take off for yet another wonderful flight, I hit that wall writers hate. How do we begin? We all know how important first impressions are right? So then why is this so bloody difficult no matter how many times I do it?
Vance Havnor has a relatively poignant point here when he writes, "The vision must be followed by the venture. It is not enough to stare up the steps - we must step up the stairs" How fitting! When we climb ourselves to the top of the staircase what is it each and everyone of us must do? Yep...Take that first step.
To that end, here is my first step here at Orble. Before the buggy gets too far in front of the horse, let not my manners go away completely. I must thank Orble and the wonderful folks there who have made this possible. In particular, Jasmine has been so warm, friendly, and helpful piloting me through the signup process like a WWI flying ace. Did someone say ACE? I expect a long and wonderful relationship and only hope to live up to my end of the deal.
Nuff of the fluff! Background and all that s....tuff
My name is Tom. I'm an old man...well becoming that quickly. I think life stops next February 1 when I turn the dastardly FOUR ZERO. Growing up I was convinced I wouldn't make THREE ZERO and here I am really pushing the envelope! I'd include a pic here but It may scare small children, not that they should be reading this though...so what the heck...Let's see if I can find one...Be right back.....
Yep, about 10 years old and 40 pounds ago, but it's the first one I came across. Not much else has changed cept some grey sneaking in on the temples and the fact that I could not fit into that particular tux.
I currently work part time at a real job for the State. I maintain a business (both on and offline) that I've operated for going on three years now. It is the inspiration behind this new blog. Whereas it would be foolhardly to suggest that I will not be promoting said business here, it is equally true that there are many ways in which we as humans can save/conserve fuel. The point of this blog obviously is fuelsavings.com...get it? Fun with links...ahh sorry. I digress. I spent 13 years chasing criminals for a living prior to starting a business with a partner. I'll see if I can find the business on wheels that we operated for a couple of years....just a sec...
We sold this about a year and a half ago as we didn't fully understand how seasonal it kind of turned out being...For dudes used to the ol office job, December can get damn cold and windy around these parts!! But it was a wonderful investment and experience. Through this I found my current business and will never EVER put anything else in any of my vehicles and toys PERIOD or I guess it should be EXCLAMATION POINT!!!
I have been formulating this blog in my mind for sometime and have a plan of action unlike I've had with any of my other ventures. Too often the point in online marketing is to hit the customer/reader over the head quick and hard to make your sale. Consider this blog something different. We'll approach this subject much like a fine wine. We're not gonna do the wham, bam, thank ya...ahh well you know what I mean. This is a journey meant to be cherished, well at least that's my aim. We'll get into the nuts and bolts of how to save valuable pennies, but we're gonna go at it at my pace. Even before the tricks and tips start coming out the first thing we need to ask is....
Do we even need to conserve fuel? Is the world ready to stop killing itself? Maybe, maybe not. Tomorrow's post will delve into this very question. If we don't have an issue then I don't have a readership. Without readers why would I spend the time here? hmmm....So tomorrow let's discuss the very question shall we?
A rule I employ throughout all my blogs and sites is that I welcome feedback both critical and otherwise. Some hate to post stuff in the open (in comments) and I've learned that some folks have some great incite but just don't want the whole world seeing their name in lights. To that end I will always leave my email address available so you can contact me personally. So...Until we chat tomorrow! Godspeed....and Good Luck!
You can reach Tommy in a number of ways....
blogtommy@gmail.com is probably the easiest, or come visit blogtommy.com and experience my more personal side. There are links to all my sites and blogs there (well not quite all) but many.
