Elections and Gas Prices
October 2nd 2006 14:45
Is it me or just a few weeks prior to another US election process and gas prices again are on the decline?? Is there a correlation? Although there are those who believe there are all sorts of deep, dark conspiracies between largely the GOP and Big Oil, much of this has stayed at a relatively academic level. Don't get me wrong, there have been any number of "investigations" into this link, but not much definitive is coming out of it. A couple of things to note. Mid term elections are a few weeks away but generally our election season is in middle Fall here. Gas prices traditionally are highest at the height of the summer vacation. So in most years prices will start to fall a little here during this period of time anyway. Second, with a relatively unspectacular Hurricane season in the Gulf, supplies have reached nearly an all time high. Simple supply and demand goes a long way in determining what we pay at the pump.
I'm not beyond giving some creedence and merit to a real good conspiracy theory though so if ya all find something worth printing....shoot me the link!
As always.............Godspeed & Good luck!
